Bruce R. Coleman
(Director/ Set Design) is always happy to find
himself at Uptown Players. Previous efforts include
Thrill Me (Rabin winner and Column nominated Best Musical,
Rabin and Column winner Best Set Design), Tick, Tick…BOOM!,
(Rabin and Column award Nom. Best Musical) The Who’s
Tommy (Column Award Winner and Rabin Nom Best Musical),
Southern Baptist Sissies, and The Life. Most recently
Mr. Coleman has directed and designed The Lavidas Landlord,
The Goodbye Girl, and Mack and Mable for Theatre Three
and Dracula for ICT MainStage. For several years, Mr.
Coleman acted as Production Designer for Fort Worth
Shakespeare in the Park, and will be continuing his
association with The Junior Players Guild this summer
when he designs costumes for A Midsummer Nights Dream.
Other theatres featuring Mr. Colemans work include Kitchen
Dog Theatre, New Theatre Company, The Pocket Sandwhich
Theatre, and Echo Theatre. An eleven time winner of
the Rabin Award, Bruce has also been recognized by the
Dallas Critics Forum awards, the Dallas Observers 'Best
Of...' issue, and the Column awards for his contribution
to local theatre. This is for Binnie.
Andi Allen (Sound Designer) returns
to Uptown after writing, directing and performing in
Broadway Our Way in January. Previous Uptown directing
credits include Ruthless! (DFW Critics Forum Award),
Sordid Lives, Valhalla (Column Award nomination for
Sound Design), Die Mommie Die! (Column Award nomination),
and Red Scare on Sunset. Recent sound design credits
include Dracula at ICT Mainstage and Die Mommie Die
at Uptown. She has directed and done sound design for
many area theatres, including ICT Mainstage, Garland
Civic Theatre, Pocket Sandwich Theater, and Theatre
Three. Her next directing project for Uptown will be
the comedy Legends, later this fall.
Coy Covington (Wig/Makeup Designer)
returns to Uptown Players having just designed wigs
for bare and having appeared in Broadway Our Way. Coy
will be directing Zanna Don’t in August and will
be starring with BJ Cleveland in Legends in October.
Past turns on the Uptown boards include leading roles
in Die Mommie Die, Ruthless! and Red Scare on Sunset.
Coy directed Uptown Players’ smash hit Pageant
for which he received a Leon Rabin nomination and a
Column Award. He has received a DFW Theater Critics
Forum Award for The Man Who Came to Dinner (Theatre
Arlington), The Full Monty (Theatre Three), Pageant
and Ruthless!
Cory Boulieris (Stage Manager) is
thrilled to make her professional stage management debut
with Uptown Players. She worked her way into the Uptown
family with Valley of the Dolls, Twilight of the Golds,
and Broadway Our Way 2008. Cory is a soon-to-be alum
of Collin College and will be attending CCM in the fall
to pursue a degree in stage management. She would like
to thank Jeff, Craig, Bruce and the amazingly talented
cast and crew for their dedication, and her family and
friends for their support throughout the course of this
life-consuming art. "That's why."
Dennis Canright (Master Carpenter)
is pleased to be returning for another season with Uptown.
Dennis splits his very busy time between Master Carpenter
for Uptown Players and contracting out as an organizational
consultant. Dennis also has a 29 year history as actor/director,
working with several theaters in DFW including Theatre
Three, Fort Worth Theatre, Artisan Center Theatre, Garland
Community Theatre, and Sage and Silo.
Suzi Cranford (Costume Designer) has
been costuming for Uptown Players since 2003. Her work
was last seen in bare, plus Twilight of the Golds, Valley
of the Dolls and Die Mommie Die last season. Along with
fellow designer Bill Bullard, her credits for Uptown
include Pageant (The Dallas Theatre Critics Forum Award,
Column Award), Red Scare on Sunset (The Dallas Theatre
Critics Forum Award), Kiss of the SpiderWoman (The Leon
Rabin Award), A Man of No Importance (Leon Rabin Nomination),
and The Who’s Tommy (Column Award). Other credits
include designs for MCT, GCT, GLCT, KCCT, RCP, KD Studio,
Unity Church of Dallas, Bucket Productions and Reeling
Spirit Productions. She is currently as associate designer
for the Dallas Costume Shoppe.
Jason Hill (Lighting Designer) returns
to design another Uptown Players show, having last designed
Valhalla in 2006. Jason graduated from the University
of Texas at Austin with a BA in theatre production.
While at UT, Jason was Production Assistant at the UT
Performing Arts Center. He served as Master Electrician
for the outdoor show Texas at Palo Duro State Park in
Amarillo, Texas. Jason has also designed lights for
the Imagination Players productions of Fame and Jungle
Book. His most recent position was Technical Director
for CBS KEYE-42 in Austin, Texas. Jason currently resides
in Dallas. He would like to thank his wife for her support.
Jo Anne Hull (Prop Designer) has most
recently designed and gathered props for The Unexpected
Guest and Dracula at ICT Mainstage. She enjoys the challenge
of those “just right and hard to find” items
that allow her to indulge and excuse her attraction
to thrift shops, garage sales and antique
stores – especially those in the Texas Hill Country!
