Cruel Intentions: The 90’s Musical

In an epic game of cat and mouse, two diabolically charming step-siblings place a bet, and vow to destroy anyone who gets in their way. Seduced by passion and revenge, this devious duo spins a web of dangerous liaisons, and they soon find themselves entangled in the cruelest game of all: love. Based on the cult classic film and featuring your favorite 90’s hits, this new jukebox musical is utterly intoxicating.

Roles
Open to both Equity and Non-Union. Ethnicities listed in order of playwright’s preference, where applicable. Actors of all … ethnicities, and gender identities encouraged to submit. EMC points may be received for Non-Union performers. Non-Union performers are paid for rehearsal and performances.

COVID-19 vaccinations are required from all artists in the production group. This is a
condition of employment. Team members will be required to submit a photo or scan of their
vaccination card, including proof of booster.

Intimacy is required for this show to further the story. An intimacy choreographer will be provided and used to create a safe working environment and set choreography.

SEBASTIAN VALMONT - (to play 17-18) Manhattan’s richest and most dangerous playboy
and Kathryn’s manipulative stepbrother; Manchester Prep’s seductive badboy; relishes the hunt and the conquest. Baritone/Tenor.

KATHRYN MERTEUIL - (to play 17-18) Manchester Prep’s All-Star student and Student Body President covering up a ruthless drive; confident, manipulative, and devious; Sebastian’s stepsister. Mezzo-Soprano, must belt up to a high D#.

ANNETTE HARGROVE - (to play 17-18) a smart Kansas transplant thrust into New York City’s rich Manchester Prep world; she is passionate about her abstinence before marriage; bold, mature; both guarded and trusting. Mezzo-Soprano.

CECILE CALDWELL - (to play teen) a naive incoming freshman to Manchester Prep; a bit oblivious, sheltered, and impressionable; odd, open, and clumsy; takes cello lessons from Ronald. Mezzo-Soprano, must belt up to a high D.

BLAINE TUTTLE - (to play 17-18) an out and proud Manchester Prep student who enjoys the fine art of blackmail; has walls up to guard his heart and reputation; Sebastian’s friend; Tenor.
 
GREG MCCONNELL - (to play 17-18) Manchester Prep’s All-American football stud who
tackles the tight ends on (and off…shhhh) the field; Tenor, must belt up to a high B. (will also serve as Sebastian understudy).

RONALD CLIFFORD - (to play 17-18; Black) Cecile’s well-mannered cello tutor; earnest, genuine and a bit awkward; determined and hopeful; Baritone/Tenor.

MRS. BUNNY CALDWELL - (mid 40s-late 50s) Cecile’s mother, a full-time and part-time elitist who wants the best for her daughter as long as it aligns with exactly what she wants; rich and racist; Alto; (also plays Dr. Greenbaum).

Auditions will be by video submission only. Video Submission Deadline is October 2.
Callbacks will be held Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 6:00 PM AT STAGE WEST
